What is the Church Jesus is actually building?

Beginning with Jesus cleansing the Temple in Mark 11, we discover that His passion wasn’t centred on religious activity or programmes, but on something far deeper. “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Throughout Scripture, from Jacob’s encounter at Bethel, to the Tabernacle in the wilderness, to Solomon’s Temple and the prophetic words of Haggai, the same pattern continues to emerge. God’s desire has always been to dwell among His people. His house is the place where heaven touches earth, where His name rests, and where His presence is made known.
Tim unpacks how that pattern finds its fulfilment under the New Covenant. The house God is building is no longer a physical building, but a people. Together, we are becoming His dwelling place, a people who carry His presence into the world.
This message is also a call to recalibrate our understanding of what success looks like as a church. If we measure ourselves by programmes, activity or numbers, we’ll miss the very thing God is most passionate about. But if we become a people who know how to host His presence, who make room for His glory, and who build our lives around His heart, then we are cooperating with what He has always been building.
More than anything, this message is an invitation to become the kind of people among whom God delights to dwell. Because the House of God has never simply been a place where people gather.
It is the place where heaven and earth meet, where His presence is welcomed, and where the King of Glory makes His home among His people.
